Picnick is a sustainable restaurant located at the Battery of New York City and serves as a mini model of consumer & eco-conscious food service, Picnick sources most ingredients from small farms and local businesses; any global vendors must meet Fair Trade quotas or adhere to a socially conscious philanthropy. Many of our products directly support social and environmental causes.
Openhouse Gallery is an exhibition gallery with a triple bottom line. Our goal is to conduct business in a socially and environmentally sustainable manner without sacrificing quality, utility, efficiency or profitability. With this in mind, we designed Openhouse Gallery to act as a specialized venue for any event, product, band, artist, or concept, that promotes sustainability - be it through direct action or charitable contribution.
GOOD December was a collaborative pop-up community center and gallery store incubated by Pure Project, enabled by Microsoft's ‘I'M Initiative' and GOOD Magazine, at the Openhouse Gallery. The space was open to the public daily from 11am-6pm December 6 – 23, 2007. The center was organized around the themes of Media, Environment, Technology, Design, Education, Culture, Business & Money, and Health.
Figment Participatory Arts Event
Figment is an annual participatory arts event held on Governors Island in New York Harbor. The mission of the event is to provide a forum for community-based participatory art and experience. FIGMENT strives to build community among artists and participants, to foster the participatory arts in New York City, and to demonstrate a vision for the future of Governors Island as an international arts destination. Figment is a ‘Leave No Trace' event and the sustainable relevance of projects is a key curatorial criteria.
